City Council Approves 2020 Street Resurfacing Project

The Aledo City Council approved Resolution No. 26R, Series of 2020; Accepting Bid and Awarding a Contract for Performance of Street Resurfacing in the NW Quadrant and SW Quadrant of Aledo.  Two proposals were received on June 23, 2020 with Brandt Construction Company submitting the apparent low total bid in the amount of $444,415.60.  This amount is 21% lower than Hutchison Engineering, Inc. opinion of probable construction cost and recommended approval as a reasonable bid.  Funds to be issued for the project from the Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Fund.   

Brandt Construction Company appears to have fully completed their bid proposal and submitted the necessary executed forms with their bid proposal.  They submitted a bid security in the form of a Bid Bond for 5% of the Amount Bid from a surety company certified to do business in the State of Illinois.  Brandt Construction Company as a corporation, included all necessary signatures and dates.  

The project included 21 blocks and was divided into a base bid and an alternate bid with a tentative start date in August, 2020.  A copy of the NW Quadrant map can be found by clicking here
