Individuals and communities may nominate districts, sites, and structures for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. In Illinois, all nominations must be reviewed by Illinois Historic Preservation Agency Staff and the Historic Sites Advisory Council before being sent to the National Park Service for final approval.
