City Council approves Phase VI Downtown Construction Project

The City Council of the City of Aledo has determined that it is in the best interests of the City and its citizens to reconstruct concrete pavement, curb and gutter in the 200 block of South College Avenue within the City of Aledo. Following a bid opening on February 1, 2019, and following review of the bids, IMEG, Inc, has recommended that the City award the contract for the Project. On February 19, 2019, the City Council of the City of Aledo awarded a contact for performance of street and sidewalk improvements to Centennial Contractors of the Quad Cities, Inc. in the amount of $624,543.55.    

The City Engineer for the City of Aledo has submitted a proposal and agreement for professional services to perform necessary construction administration services on a time and material basis for an estimated total cost of $66,150, which includes up to 50 working construction days (10 hours per day), with such services to include provision of daily and weekly reports, construction engineering & inspections, testing services, surveying, pay requests, and final inspection.

The project to begin after the Rhubarb Festival, which is held the first full weekend in June, 2019 and to be completed before Antique Days & Car Show held on August 24, 2019. Downtown businesses within the project area to be accessible at all times during the construction project.
