City Council Approves an Amendment for School Resource Officer

The Aledo City Council approved Resolution No. 33R, Series of 2018, Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Board of Education of Mercer County School District #404 for a School Resource Officer.  The School District has requested assistance from the City to provide a School Resource Officer ("SRO") at the School District's high school, intermediate school and Apollo Elementary School for the 2018 - 2019 school year, as well as, the 2019 - 2020 school year.  The City has found that providing the SRO will benefit the health and safety of children attending the School District's, high school, intermediate school, and Apollo Elementary School.  The Aledo Police Department worked with the District's administration over the summer to work out a program that is intended to give a larger SRO presence in high school and to improve security in all of the District's school building's in Aledo.
