Aledo City Council Amends NonResident Sewer & Gas Rates


On June 18th, the Aledo City Council amended the provisions of the City Code governing Water and Sewer Systems, as well as, revised and increased the rates for natural gas service to non-resident customers. 

Section 8-6-8(A) of Title 8, Chapter 6 of the City Code entitled "Water and Sewer Systems" is hereby amended as follows:

     Nonresident Use: When City water or sewer service is made available to nonresident users, to the respective monthly bills therefor shall be determined based upon the calculations set forth

     in this subsection (A) times two hundred percent (200%) in the case of any nonresident water user and one two hundred percent (200%) of the sewerage bill based on the calculation set forth

     in this subsection (A) except for: a) any not for profit corporation nonresident water user organized for charitable , educational, religious, scientific, research, agricultural, or horticultural

     purposes, and b) any nonresident user connecting to the City's water transmission line located between the City's west corporate limits and the City treatment plant shall only pay one hundred

     percent (100%) of the amount calculated to be due for its water usage charge under this subsection (A). 

Title 13: Schedule of Fees: Section 8-13-11 - Gas rates (Non-Resident) - $13.80 per month for 1st 1,000 cu.ft. & $13.80 per 1,000 cu.ft. thereafter. 


A letter to be drafted and sent to all nonresident customers informing those customers of the rate increase effective August 7, 2018.  As utility costs continue to rise, Aledo is committed to managing those costs and staying efficient in the delivery of City services to our residents.  The City of Aledo is also offering to aid in the process of voluntary annexation by assuming the cost of the annexation plat which is required to annex into the City.  Services provided by the City of Aledo include, but are not limited to, police patrol and protection, snow removal of city streets, utility maintenance, and participation in the water/sewer lateral repair program.
