Law Enforcement Exploring

ALEDO POLICE EXPLORER POST
The Aledo Police Department is working in partnership with Mercer County High School to develop a Law Enforcement Exploring post for youth in the communities served by the Department and the District.  The purpose of the post will be to provide young men and women with an introduction to law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

Law Enforcement Exploring or "Police Exploring" is the preeminent career orientation and experience program for high school and college students contemplating a career in criminal justice. Police Exploring offers young adults, ages 14-21, interested in a career in law enforcement a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences and other activities.

WHAT IS EXPLORING?
Exploring is part of the Learning for Life division of the Boy Scouts of America and is open to all young men and women who are at least 14 and not yet 21 years old.  It is a work site-based program.  The purpose of the Exploring program is to provide real world career experiences and develop other critical skills necessary for success in college and a career, including:

◾Leadership Development
◾Character Development
◾Social & Professional Networking
◾Community Service

Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities.
